About Carol Anne Meehan

Carol Anne grew up in Pembroke, in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. Her dream was to work in Ottawa alongside the legendary broadcaster and anchor Max Keeping. After earning a degree in Radio and Television from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now Toronto Metropolitan University), she gained valuable experience in newsrooms across Canada.

In 1989, while working at CBC Calgary, Carol Anne received a call from CJOH TV. She joined Max Keeping, and for twenty-two years, the duo dominated TV news in the capital.

In 2015, Carol Anne's career in Ottawa was abruptly ended by Bell Media. However, this setback only invigorated her as a newly widowed mother of two. She began producing blogs and later hosted her own radio show on 1310 News. In 2018, she successfully ran for Ottawa City Council, representing Gloucester South-Nepean for one term. Her tenure on council was defined by her outspoken challenges against costly decisions made behind closed doors by the mayor and select bureaucrats. In 2022, Carol Anne and a small group of like-minded councillors were vindicated by the findings of a federal inquiry into the disastrous LRT.

Carol Anne views her time on council as an eye-opener. As a fiscal conservative, she staunchly advocated for fiscal responsibility, scrutinizing budget overruns in the construction of the new public library and critiquing planning decisions that she believed were detrimental to residents.

Today, Carol Anne aims to bring her energy to Parliament Hill as the Conservative Member for Ottawa-West Nepean.
